Bizarre Holiday
MOTE Week 50, 2025
According to my records, this is the 250th week for which I’ve submitted a prompt response on MOTE. I’ll just pause here to metaphorically hold up my laptop in acknowledgment of the applause from all corners of the internet…
This week on MOTE, I was prompted by Padre: Bizarre Holiday
—
Someone had the bright idea to take a day off from their labours, not to celebrate one of the gods, nor a crucial event in the year’s annual cycle, but to glory in the bizarre, in the weird, in the things anyone and everyone found strange.
It was, of course, a strange and frankly bizarre idea. Nonetheless, the village council decided that – just this once – they would give it a go.
So, today, everyone was encouraged to dress in bizarre ways, to cook and then eat bizarre things, and so on and so forth.
The results were widely considered to be atrocious. The food was generally considered inedible.
The village council were unanimous that this would be the last ever bizarre day that the village ever held.

My prompt this week went to nother Mike. I’m looking forwards to reading what everyone comes up with.
